Last updated: October 8, 2026. First Down has no accounts and stores nothing about you on its servers beyond standard web-server logs; usage statistics are collected with Google Analytics, with your consent where required. Here is exactly what happens when you use it.

Who is responsible

Data processed by our server

Like any website, our web server records each request in an access log: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the response status and its size. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure, for example to investigate errors or abuse. We delete them after 30 days. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

We have no accounts and no contact forms. If you email us, we use your message only to reply.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages and tools are opened and which of their options are used (for example the week, the scoring format, how many players are compared, the type and size of a league, or which NFL teams are matched up), roughly where visitors come from (country, referring site) and which devices and browsers they use. Google Analytics uses cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to tell visits apart. It doesn’t log or store IP addresses, and we don’t send it your Sleeper username, your league’s name or ID, or the players you pick.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set after you accept them in the cookie banner shown at the bottom of the page. Until then, or if you reject them, Google receives only cookieless, anonymous signals, without identifiers, that it may use to estimate overall traffic. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page; rejecting there also deletes the analytics cookies already set. You can also install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising and cookies

First Down shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to serve ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance and prevent fraud. Where allowed, they may also personalize ads based on your visits to this and other websites. First Down sets no cookies of its own; the cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and Google AdSense.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent message before cookies are used for personalized ads, and you can change your choice at any time from the privacy link shown by that message. Analytics cookies follow your choice in our own cookie banner (see Analytics above). Elsewhere, you can manage personalized advertising in Google’s My Ad Center or opt out of third-party vendors at aboutads.info. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and complain to a supervisory authority. In Italy that is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali. Since we don’t know who you are, we can only find log entries if you tell us your IP address and the time of your visit. Children

First Down is not directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly process their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
